Subtitle Downloader for YouTube Privacy Policy

This document is the privacy policy for the Subtitle Downloader for YouTube Chrome extension (the "Extension") only. It is separate from LoudClip's general Privacy Policy, which covers the web app's accounts, payments, and Cloud Export (publishing). That policy does not apply to this Extension.

1. Scope and Purpose

  1. This policy applies to the Subtitle Downloader for YouTube Chrome extension.
  2. The Extension detects the caption response YouTube provides on the YouTube video player currently open in your browser, whether on a YouTube watch page or embedded in another page.
  3. The Extension's sole purpose is to let you download a caption track you select as a JSON3 or SRT file.

2. Data We Process

  1. We process the YouTube caption response, including caption text and timing information.
  2. We process metadata such as caption track language and name, needed to display the download UI.
  3. We do not collect account information, name, email address, location, payment information, advertising identifiers, or health information.

3. Storage Location and Retention

  1. Caption responses are temporarily stored only inside your browser, in order to provide the download UI.
  2. Temporary data is retained for a maximum of 30 minutes, after which it expires.
  3. Files you explicitly request to download are saved to your browser and are not uploaded to LoudClip's servers.

4. External Transfer and Third-Party Disclosure

  1. We do not transmit caption data or caption metadata to LoudClip or any other external server.
  2. We do not sell, rent, or use this data for advertising targeting, profiling, credit scoring, or any purpose unrelated to the purpose stated above.

5. Functional and Access Scope Limits

  1. The Extension provides caption download functionality on YouTube video watch pages and on pages that embed a YouTube video player.
  2. The Extension does not download or upload video, audio, or thumbnails, and it does not generate ZIP files.
  3. The Extension does not automatically exchange data with the LoudClip web app. Users may manually upload a JSON3 file they downloaded from the Extension to the web app.
  4. The Extension is not affiliated with YouTube and is not endorsed by YouTube.
